The Louisiana Drillers of the NA3HL are proud to announce the signing of Forward, Matthew Cunningham and Defenseman, Aidan Fluharty for the upcoming 2023-24 season!
Matthew Cunningham is from Land O’ Lakes, Florida. Last season was a step in the right direction for Matt in his confidence and is looking to make this season in Louisiana even better. He posted 24 points in 41 games with the Atlanta Mad Hatters Premier team last season. “Matt has a special offensive gift that is hard to come by and I’m excited to see it this season with the Drillers. I’m super excited that we have Matt here and I will do everything I can to help Matt improve every day and get to the next level,” says head coach Francis.
A native of Gillette, Wyoming Aidan Fluharty is excited to be in Louisiana for his first year of Junior hockey. Last season with the Gillette Grizzlies (High School) Aidan put up 6 goals and 16 assists in 26 games. We asked head coach Francis’s thoughts. “Aidan is a silent but effective player. He keeps his game simple, and it works. After seeing him in Colorado for the CCM showcase I knew he was the type of player I wanted in Louisiana to help improve and make more confident in his abilities.”
The Drillers open the season on the road with two back-to-back weekends against the Mid-City Stars and Texas RoadRunners. The team returns to Lafayette for their home opener on October 6th against the team that ended their last season, the Texas Brahmas!
General admission is $8 for adults, $5 for youth and kids under 5 years old are free. We hope to see everyone in attendance this season as we PACK THE PLANET for another successful Louisiana Drillers hockey season! Geaux Drillers.
