The Louisiana Drillers of the NA3HL are proud to announce the signing of Defenseman, Johnathon Berndt and Forward, Alexander Boyd for the upcoming 2023-24 season!
John, a native of Wheaton, Illinois, is a fantastic 2-way defenseman that is coming off a successful hockey season with the Boston Advantage Premier and 18UAAA. With the Advantage Premier team he had 6 goals and 6 assists in 33 games. When with the 18UAAA team he had 7 goals and 18 assists in 24 games. “John is a special player. When attending the Shreveport Mudbugs camp, he was always noticeable on the ice. There is no doubt that he will be at the next level after spending some time here with the Drillers. We are super excited to watch John continue his development and push forward to the next level,” says Coach Francis.
Alexander Boyd from West Seneca, New York is entering his first year of junior hockey. The talented forward played last season for St. Francis High Prep where he had a strong season posting 13 goals and 10 assists in 57 games. Coach Chris Francis on Boyd, “Ever since I met Alex at the CCM showcase in Colorado he was someone I really wanted to pursue for the Drillers hockey team. The way he carries himself on and off the ice shows he can be a leader for any team and someone who can produce and help the team succeed. Excited to have Alex and I know he will have a great season!”
The Drillers open the season on the road with two back-to-back weekends against the Mid-City Stars and Texas RoadRunners. The team returns to Lafayette for their home opener on October 6th against the team that ended their last season, the Texas Brahmas!
General admission is $8 for adults, $5 for youth and kids under 5 years old are free. We hope to see everyone in attendance this season as we PACK THE PLANET for another successful Louisiana Drillers hockey season! Geaux Drillers.
