The Drillers crushed the Spirit 5-1

Griffin Varricchio came up big, stopping 43 of 44 shots throughout the game. The Louisiana Drillers took the lead before the halfway point in the first on a goal from Brandon Morgan and never looked back.

Brent Wroblewski delivered for his team with 2 goals and Hayden Watzka had a busy night with 2 points (1 goal, 1 assist).

In the first period, Wroblewski opened the scoring for Louisiana with a goal at 6:58 with helpers from his linemates, Jorajuria and Morgan. Morgan quickly followed with what turned out to be the game winning goal at 7:26 with an assist from defenseman Denning. Dolese put in a goal at 9:28 with helpers from his teammates Wotta and Watzka.

In the second period, Wroblewski deposited a goal at 2:55 with assists from Denning and Zittel.

During the third, Watzka scored a goal at 14:30 with helpers from Wotta and Dolese. Svondrk finally put the Spirit on the board with a goal at 19:32 with assists from his linemates, Butler and Palamara.

The Drillers’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Varricchio’s big night as he stopped 43 of the 44 shots he faced. Varricchio’s counterpart, O’toole, also had a big night, managing to stop 55 of 60, but ultimately fell short.

This win brings the Louisiana Drillers’ record to (14-25-1-1).
