Joshua Jorajuria, Tucker Alspaugh and Zach Smith had big nights with 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists), 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) and 4 points (0 goals, 4 assists) respectively as the Louisiana Drillers crushed the College Station Spirit 11-1 in a home game at Planet Ice Rink in Louisiana. Besides, Ian Clifford came up big, stopping 27 of 28 shots throughout the game. The Louisiana Drillers took the lead before the halfway point in the first on a goal from Drew Wotta and never looked back.
Cole Bloemer did his part, adding 2 goals and Drew Wotta had a busy night with 3 points (2 goals, 1 assist).
During the first period, Jeffries opened the scoring for the Spirit with a goal at 0:41 with helpers from his teammates Sawicki and Davis. Morgan answered for Louisiana with a goal at 4:39 with assists from Morgan and Smith. Wotta deposited what turned out to be the game winning goal at 8:55 with helpers from Vukasin and Zittel. Credeur scored a goal at 13:04 with assists from teammates Zittel and Wotta. Sarver quickly followed with a goal at 13:35 with a helper from defenseman Morgan.
In the second, Alspaugh netted a goal at 10:42 with assists from Jorajuria and Dolese. Bloemer quickly followed with a goal at 10:52 with helpers from Alspaugh and Jorajuria.
During the third, Jorajuria scored a goal at 4:01 with assists from Alspaugh and Zittel. Watzka quickly followed with a goal at 4:46 with helpers from Wroblewski and Smith. Jorajuria put in a goal at 12:39 with assists from Alspaugh and Dolese. Wotta deposited a goal at 16:05 with helpers from Smith and Morgan. Bloemer netted a goal at 19:35 with an assist from defenseman Smith.
The Drillers’ victory was in no doubt helped out by Clifford’s big night as he stopped 27 of the 28 shots he faced. Clifford’s counterpart, Pehrson, also had a big night, managing to stop 51 of 62, but ultimately fell short.
This win brings the Louisiana Drillers’ record to (6-7-0-0).
